The implementation of practices regarding the restriction of unhealthy drinks in school canteens, healthy school fundraisers and staff training related to healthy eating was reported in under 25% of participating schools. There were no significant differences in implementation by school sector, socio-economic status and geographic location. The main barrier to inclusion of nutrition policies and practices in the school plan was having other priorities and commitments (28.5%), and the main facilitator was support from stakeholders, the staff, students and their parents (37.2%). Conclusions: There is opportunity to improve the implementation of nutrition policies and practices in NSW secondary schools. So What?: Strategies are needed for targeting barriers. These include: gaining support from school staff, students and parents, provision of resources and funding and staff training.]]> Wed 12 Oct 2022 10:45:26 AEDT ]]> CAFÈ: a multicomponent audit and feedback intervention to improve implementation of healthy food policy in primary school canteens: a randomised controlled trial https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:29476 50% ‘green’ items, as assessed via standardised menu audits undertaken by trained dietitians. For each primary outcome, between-group differences were assessed using Fisher’s exact test under an intention to treat approach. Results: There was insufficient evidence to conclude the intervention had a positive impact on the proportion of intervention schools with no ‘red’ or ‘banned’ items on their menu (RR = 2.8; 95% CI: 0.9 to 8.9; p = 0.0895), or on the proportion of intervention schools with more than 50% ‘green’ items (RR = 1.5; 95% CI: 0.7 to 3.2; p = 0.2568). These findings remained non-significant in the multiple imputation analyses. Intervention schools were significantly more likely to have a lower percentage of ‘red’ items (p-value: 0.007) and a higher percentage of ‘green’ items on the menu (p-value: 0.014). This remained statistically significant in the multiple imputation analyses for ‘red items’ (p-value: 0.0081) but not for ‘green’ items (p-value: 0.0910). Conclusions: While there was insufficient statistical evidence to suggest that this multicomponent audit and feedback intervention was effective in improving primary schools’ compliance with a healthy canteen policy, the intervention demonstrated some positive impact in reducing the availability of ‘red’ items on the menu.]]> Wed 11 Apr 2018 11:32:26 AEST ]]> Availability of food and beverage items on school canteen menus and association with items purchased by children of primary-school age https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:33503 Wed 10 Nov 2021 15:05:49 AEDT ]]> A cluster randomised controlled trial of a sugar-sweetened beverage intervention in secondary schools: pilot study protocol https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:44627 Tue 18 Oct 2022 11:22:35 AEDT ]]> New models to support parents to pack healthy lunchboxes: Parents acceptability, feasibility, appropriateness, and adoption of the SWAP IT m-Health program https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:52553 Tue 17 Oct 2023 15:27:16 AEDT ]]> Protocol for an effectiveness-implementation hybrid trial to assess the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of an m-health intervention to decrease the consumption of discretionary foods packed in school lunchboxes: the 'SWAP IT' trial https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:36175 Tue 07 Apr 2020 15:20:16 AEST ]]> A randomized controlled trial to assess the potential efficacy, feasibility and acceptability of an m-health intervention targeting parents of school aged children to improve the nutritional quality of foods packed in the lunchbox 'SWAP IT' https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:35757 Thu 28 Oct 2021 13:04:00 AEDT ]]> A multicomponent mHealth-based intervention (SWAP IT) to decrease the consumption of discretionary foods packed in school lunchboxes: Type I effectiveness-implementation hybrid cluster randomized controlled trial https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:45371 Thu 27 Oct 2022 15:11:36 AEDT ]]> The effectiveness of lunchbox interventions on improving the foods and beverages packed and consumed by children at centre-based care or school: a systematic review and meta-analysis https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:35758 Thu 24 Mar 2022 11:35:11 AEDT ]]> Feasibility and principal acceptability of school-based mobile communication applications to disseminate healthy lunchbox messages to parents https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:35770 Thu 09 Dec 2021 11:01:23 AEDT ]]> A cluster randomised controlled trial of a secondary school intervention to reduce intake of sugar-sweetened beverages: Mid-intervention impact of switchURsip environmental strategies https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:45772 Sat 05 Nov 2022 12:20:57 AEDT ]]> Enhancing the potential effects of text messages delivered via an m-health intervention to improve packing of healthy school lunchboxes https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:49560 Mon 22 May 2023 09:13:32 AEST ]]> Effectiveness of a multicomponent intervention to enhance implementation of a healthy canteen policy in Australian primary schools: a randomised controlled trial https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:24525 Fri 25 Sep 2020 13:38:39 AEST ]]> A cross-sectional study to determine the energy density and nutritional quality of primary-school children's lunchboxes https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:38134 Fri 03 Sep 2021 10:17:31 AEST ]]>
